Eastern White Pine

ku’o

Also known as Northern White Pine, Weymouth Pine, or Soft Pine, this tree is native to eastern North America. It’s identified by its long, soft, blue-green needles grouped in bundles of five (each bundle is 5 to 10 centimeters long). It’s the only five-needled pine that grows at low elevations in western Canada. Eastern White Pine thrives in moist valleys and on gentle slopes and is often found mixed with other tree species. It typically grows up to 50 meters tall, with a trunk diameter between 6 and 12 meters.
