A very large raptor with long, broad wings. Its dark brown body contrasts with its white head and tail. Considered a spiritual symbol for Mi’kmaq people, bald eagles were once endangered by hunting and pesticides. These eagles have flourished under protection. Rather than do their own fishing, they often go after other creatures’ catches.
