Raspberry
klita’q
Raspberries grow on deciduous shrubs with woody canes. The plants have white or pink flowers and can grow up to 2.4 meters tall. The leaves are compound, with three to five toothed leaflets. Flowers bloom in spring and have five petals. Mi’kmaq people have long used raspberries as both food and medicine. They ate the berries fresh, made juice or tonic, and used the leaves, roots, and bark for healing.
