Ruffed Grouse

The Ruffed Grouse is a chunky, medium-sized bird that can weigh up to two-thirds of a kilogram and live up to 11 years. The hen lays 9 to 14 buff-colored eggs. Individuals may be grey or brown in color. Ruffed Grouse are the most widely distributed non-migratory game birds in North America and are found in every Canadian province and 38 U.S. states.
